Spioenkop Riesling Elgin 2017. When I think of Spioenkop – for me they are synonymous for Riesling. This Riesling has to be the best Riesling in the country; I can’t think of one better. When I tasted it, I got lemon, wet rocks and a little bit of oiliness because of the age. It really was an incredible Riesling. This is my favourite grape variety. We don’t make that many amazing examples of this in our Country. For me Riesling shows its terroir better than white grape – I would even say better than Chardonnay.
